Hey Creative Dreamer,
I’m sure you have many dreams, ideas and plans for the future. If you’re like me, you may have 15 journals, vision boards and random creative notes everywhere, because you’re a creative dreamer! It can be a big creative mess at times, but that’s what works for you and me haha!
As we dream, plan, take action, set new goals, strategize, write down new creative ideas… it can be overwhelming, discouraging, and messy at times. I’m sure you have even experienced opportunities just not working out or feeling like things aren’t moving forward.
I wanted to give you 5 keys that have helped me when going through hard times.
Relationship with God:
Putting my Trust, Hope and Faith in God. A few scriptures that always encourages me is –
- Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;”
- Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you; declares the lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
God continues to remind me who I’am through scripture and his plans for my life. You may not be a spiritual person, but for myself my relationship with God has helped me big time.
I find myself as a dreamer thinking about the future a lot. I’m a very futuristic thinker just naturally, but at times that can get the best of me. When you are always thinking about the future, you sometimes forget about the moments you’re in now. It’s okay to plan and think about the future, but don’t forget about living in the now. Enjoy the process of where you’re at today, because life is not a sprint it’s more like a marathon.
If I didn’t have my community of support, oh boy that would be a tough one. My community of family and friends have helped me in so many ways. When I’am having a bad day, you need those people for encouragement or someone to just talk things out with. Community is also super important, because you are dreaming together, collaborating and doing life with them.
When you plan, take action, plan some more and take some more action… like I said it can get tiring. I found taking time to rest is super important. You can plan all you want and hustle, but you don’t want to feel or look like a walking zombie. Taking that time for yourself will make you feel a lot better. Paint those nails, take a walk in the fresh air, go for a nap, do whatever you do to rest and rejuvenate yourself.
Knowing your Why:
When things don’t go as planned, your first reaction may be to give up. Something that has helped me is, knowing my why. Why do I want to seek after that dream? Why did I launch this idea in the first place? Knowing your why is super important, because when you feel like giving up… your why should be strong enough to keep you going. Asking yourself good questions is good.
I hope these helped you today. I know it can be overwhelming, discouraging and hard at times. Just know you aren’t in this alone. Dig deep into your life vision, get it messy and know everything will work out how it’s suppose too. It sometimes will look different then what we originally pictured, but God has it fully under control.
Keep being you & know great things are coming your way.
